Welcome to
Friends of St George’s Hospital
Our role at St George’s Hospital has remained unchanged for the last 75 years, since our first trustees meeting held on 10th December 1949. The Friends continue to support the hospital with the funding for projects that have a positive impact on staff and patients.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Gift Shop
The Friends gift shop is the heart of the Friends and generates a proportion of our income each year. Donations of second-hand jewellery, books, jigsaws, or children’s toys are always welcome. We also have a team of people who donate hand-knitted baby wear and blankets for the shop, perhaps this is something that you might consider.
The shop is there to offer a service to patients, staff and visitors and is open Monday to Friday 10.30 – 3.30 pm and situated on the ground floor of Lanesborough Wing.
Donate
No matter how large or small a donation is it all helps us to fund gifts that the Friends donate to the hospital. This can be state-of-the-art equipment or a fridge for a staff room. If you would like to make a donation its simple to do, just click on the donate icon and follow the instructions. A donation to the Friends doesn’t need to be a financial one, it can be about unwanted items.
Fundraise
We have events throughout the year, an Easter sale and a summer and Christmas tombola. As well as attending the Christmas Makers Market at St Andrews church. If you would like to help, we are always looking for prizes for our tombolas.
The Friends have been a part of St George’s Hospital for more than 60 years, first at the old hospital site in Hyde Park Corner and now in Tooting.
The Friends’ aim has hardly changed in all that time – to help and support both patients and staff. Any department can apply for funding and the Friends Trustees will consider anything from a piece of life saving equipment to some paint for a children’s play area.
